In voller Sonne verfrbt sich die Tanne stark blulich. Sie ist frosthart und bevorzugt frischen bis feuchten Boden, welcher auch nhrstoffreich und gut durchlssig sein sollte.
Die amerikanische Blautanne, auch Silbertanne genannt, hat einen lockeren kegelförmigen Wuchs. Die spät austreibende Tanne hat wunderschön intensiv gefärbte blauweiße Nadeln, die bogig aufrecht wachsen. Der Standort kann sonnig und schattig sein.
