The original oil painting was chosen as the winner and will grace the waterfowl hunting stamp for the coming season. This drake ruddy is actually painted in its breeding plumage which is distinguishable from the winter plumage. The ruddy drake is a deep rusty red on its breast, flanks and back, with a black cap, white cheeks and a bright blue bill.
