Having sunk into Administration in 2007 former World Club Champions Widnes Vikings, under the stewardship of new owner Steve O’Connor, rose phoenix-like to eventually re-gain their place in the top tier of the sport in 2012

Along the way they suffered rejection by the Rugby Football League in the sport’s inaugural Licensing process in 2008, only to be successful three years later.

Mike Healing's informative account of how the club turned that failure into success takes an in-depth look at the many changes taking place within the club as it was re-structured for success in addition to the new Licensing process.

While the main focus is on the behind-the-scenes developments, the highs and lows of the on-field action, including the return to Super League in 2012, also receive detailed attention

About the Author

Mike Healing, a native of Watford, moved to Manchester in 1975 during his career with Shell UK Oil. Now retired he is settled in Sale with his Widnes-born wife, Lynn.

A life-long football fan he was introduced to rugby league through his wife's Widnes connections, and was instantly hooked on the game, soon becoming a season-ticket holder and sponsor.

As the official Widnes Vikings club statistician, contributor to the match-day programme and member of the Supporters Club Committee, he now follows up 'Dreams to Reality' with this recent history of the former World Club Champions.

Good but Installation was a Bit Iffy

90% of the time I use my iPad for school. Originally, I used just a regular screen protector, but it would get dirty with smudges and imprints from my Apple Pencil, and there would be a lot of glare since I'm in a classroom most of the time, which would make it awkward to see what I was writing at times. Plus, the screen protector was too smooth so it would actually be difficult to write legibly. This product makes it a lot easier to write smoother on the iPad. I only just installed it, so I can't say much on the smear protection yet, but I can already see the reduction in glare as well. For $8, getting a pack of two of these with an install kit is a very nice deal imo. My only issue was the installation process, which could've been as much my own fault tbh, but I felt like I aligned the screen protector pretty well with the sticker, however the first time I tried installing it it was way off the center (maybe my case got in the way?). The biggest issue was using the squeegee to pop air bubbles, and this is something they don't mention in neither their instruction guide nor video, but you're supposed to used the velvet red side, not the naked white side: using the white side actually takes the grit off the protector, which is obviously something you don't want on a product that relies on it. Thankfully I have another one in reserve in case this one wears off sooner than expected.
