Biznaga might share this motto if it weren't for the fact that they don't give a shit about rock 'n' roll. They wanted me to dedicate few words to their "Sense of Spectacle," so maybe you're expecting to read a long list of over-the-top metaphors and grandiose yet undeserved adjectives to describe their songs. That's not gonna happen. I'm not going to do anything even remotely similar - they wouldn't want that. I'm not going to say that this is an album created through balls and ingenuity, an arrogant and tender artifact, full of urgent melodies, hymns about daily struggles and the same nervous verbosity as many UK-based bands from past decades (The Clash, Buzzcocks, Mekons, Zounds, Stiff Little Fingers, Television Personalities), or that they know how to squander with taste and impertinence the inheritance of some local heroes (Parálisis Permanente, Eskorbuto, Ilegales) or that even when they succumb to that fabled fatigue and their flamenco style comes out, they make it work. I won't say that you should pay attention to the lyrics of these songs that are full of streets and nights, because, as in all the songs they've written up to this point, they sing about the classic problem of fear, disgust, boredom, and the lack of communication in current times, and they talk about these issues in a way nobody else is doing. I won't say any of that, of course not, because they would never want that, but above all, because whatever you say they are, they are, and even worse.

Angels and the Fallen — Breathtaking Start

This book was EVERYTHING I expected it to be and more. Leave to R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair to give us yet another amazing book!
Kieran and her guys hooked me from the very beginning and did not let go. Found family is one of my favorite tropes and it was done so well in this book. Couple that along with an FMC trying to find her place in the world and I was practically drooling over this book. The world building, the conflict, the wyverin sidekick — it all was done so well that it felt fresh and real.
Each love interest felt real and unique in their own ways. I felt connected to each one and like they were truly different people. I love that so much in a book and these two authors never miss with their love interests.
Multi POV, Reverse harem, who did this to you, and a magical world highlighting the angels and the fallen. This book has everything and it does it so well.
Big thank you to R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair for the arc copy! I cannot wait for book 2!

A new take 🤔

I’m not going to go into what this book is about — by now you e already read the synopsis and have an idea — but I will give a couple of insights.
Definitely a different take on angels and their fall; I like it. This is an interesting start to a new series - YES, this does end on a cliffhanger so be prepared for that. I’m eager for the next book (and hopefully the last in this series — sometimes the author(s) will switch it up depending on how the story flows for them) in this series.
I’m hoping that a certain male character redeems himself because he’s a dick that will make the meaning of mixed signals jealous lol.
You ever watch that old movie — I think it’s call Mommy Dearest? — yea, let’s switch that up to daddy. That man would make a perfect husband to mommy dearest.
I recommend this book because while these authors are well known for their cliffhangers, they are also well known for putting out good stories.

Format: Kindle
I liked the worlds and the characters. The prophesy is confusing in that I would think, since all worlds ore on a path to destruction, the angels would want their world to be saved. I am sure there is more evil that will be revealed as the series proceeds. I dislike a prolonged “poor little me” trope and the main character has moved past that, thankfully, and began to show a fierce attitude as the novel progressed. The last portion of the novel had some great action. It’s worth reading, just be patient with a slow start.

Fallen Angels, fae, vampires, oh my!

I couldn’t wait to read this book; there was so much hype about it! And there was no doubt why. I fell in love with the characters and the plot itself. This book is mainly plot driven more than friction driven but it’s easy to follow along with. The characters are fun, easily understood. The main setting is at an academy where both the main characters are going through trials and building strength for the final test, The Transcendent. There are fantastic side characters as well. I loved the camaraderie between Huntyr and her friends. But we don’t like Lanson. 😆
We do have some plot twists that come into play throughout the book. Secrets and betrayal to be seen. I did adore Wolf and Huntyr’s relationship. It was a classic slow burn trope. They didn’t hit it off fast, but in time their feelings grew. I loved their banter, so sexy. Wolf is your next book boyfriend; Huntyr is your next vampire assassin independent bad-a*s female. Themes include loyalty, trust, self-discovery, a true slow burn romance. Side note: book ends on a angsty cliffhanger!

“My heart bows to you and you only, Huntress.”

This book popped up in my KU recommended reading suggestions and the synopsis sounded like what I was in the mood for. I'm so glad I took a chance on it. I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about it and ended up really liking it. I love when this happens.
The main characters are likeable and I easily found myself rooting for them. There is a mystery element to each of their backstories that I enjoyed watching unfold and can't wait to get more of. Wolf, in particular, has me fixated. Love him.
I found this to be an entertaining, addictive read with a plot that moves along at a good pace. It reads so easily I found myself very reluctant to put it down. Lots of twists and turns and the angst is there. A good set up for the next book to come, for sure.
My issues with this book....the dialogue feels a bit juvenile at times and there is a repetitive over use of a particular word phrasing that I found myself giving the ole eye-roll to. There are, without a doubt, some pretty cliche moments that gave me a bit of the cringe. I think this could've certainly 100% benefited from more depth regarding the world building. Perhaps the world building was sacrificed to keep the pacing quick? Just a guess. Also, the lack of consistency of character for the FMC was really evident and so she feels quite illogical at times.
Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read that hit the spot well enough for me. That ending certainly has me impatiently pining for book 2!
