NAUTRE'S RULES

OUR BIOLOGICALLY APPROPRIATE™ PHILOSOPHY

The gray wolf is the ancestor and closest relative of all domestic dogs. While years of breeding have produced hundreds of ‘different looking wolves’, the internal workings of wolves and dogs remain unchanged so it’s no surprise that their food requirements remain the same too. Our 5 Biologically Appropriate™ principles are simple and mirror the freshness and variety of meats that dogs are evolved to eat.

  • RICH IN MEAT (85%) AND PROTEIN (38%)

All dogs have sharp teeth and a body designed to metabolize protein and fat from meat. ORIJEN is designed to nourish your dog according to his evolutionary and biological needs.

    • 85% meat (2/3 FRESH or RAW and 1/3 gently dehydrated)
    • 38% richly nourishing meat protein
    • 100% of meat ingredients from animals deemed fit for human consumption, prior to inclusion in our foods
    • NO plant proteins extracts or concentrates (potato or pea protein)
    • NO high-glycemic carbohydrates (tapioca, potato, rice)
    • NO glutens or grains
  • UNMATCHED FRESH MEAT INCLUSIONS (2/3)

Fresh meats are the foundation of award-winning ORIJEN foods.

    • 2/3 of the meats are FRESH or RAW, supplying your dog with essential nutrients in their most natural and nourishing form.
    • 1/3 of meats are dehydrated at low temperature for a concentrated source of nourishing protein that cannot be supplied by fresh meats alone.
  • AN ABUNDANT VARIETY OF MEATS (5)

In nature, dogs benefit from an assortment of meats. This variety is often lost in conventional dog foods which typically feature a single animal ingredient such as chicken or lamb that is highly processed and seldom fresh.

That’s why award-winning ORIJEN Original features a rich diversity of fresh meats in Biologically Appropriate™ WholePrey™ ratios to nourish for peak health:

    • Fresh free-run Cobb chicken from Prairie farms
    • Fresh free-run turkey from Prairie farms
    • Fresh and whole nest-laid eggs from Prairie farms
    • Fresh, whole Pacific Herring and Flounder, wild-caught from North Vancouver Island
  • WHOLEPREY™ MEAT RATIOS

WholePrey™ represents the evolution of ORIJEN foods, incorporating fresh meats, organ meats and cartilage in ratios that mirror nature and eliminate the need for long lists of synthetic supplements.

    • Meat – essential for protein and fat as well as Vitamins A, B, D and K, copper, chromium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, potassium, selenium and zinc.
    • Organs – packed with virtually every nutrient your dog needs to thrive including vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and amino acids.
    • Edible Bone – a rich source of minerals including calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium in natural form your dog’s body can easily absorb.
  • CARBOHYDRATE-LIMITED (20%)

While dogs have no nutritional requirement for carbohydrates, conventional dog foods still contain large amounts of high-glycemic carbohydrates such as potato and tapioca, which are often cited as a leading cause of obesity and diabetes.

Biologically Appropriate™ ORIJEN Original is a protein-rich and carbohydrate-limited food featuring lentils, chickpeas, squash, greens and fruits which release sugar slowly, dramatically reducing the potential for fat storage.

This details what the average citizen may need to do when the local or state law enforcement won't protect your rights and what
Format: Paperback
If you are a second amendment supporter or if you are an African-American who wonders "What does all this second amendment stuff mean to me anyway?", you need to read this book. This doesn't take place in 'ancient' American history when only those on the frontiers needed to keep arms for hunting and protection or for the gentleman walking through 18th or early 19th century America, this is from America, the 1960's. This details what the average citizen may need to do when the local or state law enforcement won't protect your rights and what it is like to live, as a minority, during that type of time (and 'minority' may change as the winds of political strength changes). The movie about the same topic gives you only a taste. Enlarge your mind.

Review of Deacons for Defense
Format: Paperback
I found this book to be extremely informative about the Deacons. I was in Monroe ,LA in 1965 as a staff lawyer for the Lawyers Constitutional Defense Committee. We represented Deacons in various instances. This history filled in innumerable gaps in my knowledge of the Deacons. To the extent of my recollection the facts and analysis seemed accurate to me. This book is recommended for anyone with an interest in acquiring a full understanding of important civil rights organizations which contributed to the Movement in the '60's'

I love this book
Format: Paperback
I love this book. Some of the incidents took place in my home town of Jonesboro, LA. I knew many of the men (and women) who risked their lives to take a stand for racial equality. CORE's Jonesboro Freedom House (although it is vacant) still stands today, and its structure has not changed. This house, along with many of the pictures of individuals, are shown between pages 107 & 108 of the book. I shared this information with some of my students. They were quite surprised that our small town was a part of History!

Funny, Interesting, Informative!
Format: Paperback
I hiked the PCT in 2016 and I wish this had been available then. There are a lot of misconceptions about the desert section of the PCT (first 700ish miles) being flat, monotonous, and unpleasant. Even once you are out on the trail hiking through varied terrain, it is hard to shake off the "desert mentality" that comes from listening to those misconceptions. One of the reasons I love this book is because of how well the author paints an accurate picture of the beauty and constantly changing scenery the desert has to offer. All the information you would expect from a guide book is here, including mileage, water sources, elevation, etc. There are also a TON of photos that will make you question why you spend anytime indoors. I mean this literally. This book is worth buying for pictures of the Sierra sections alone. The damn near turn by turn navigation descriptions of each section are also a good reason for your purchase. The author is funny. I wanted to say that in a funny way but she's funny enough so if you want to chuckle, wait for the book. Her passion for the PCT seeps through her writing and it is impossible not to feel equally enthusiastic. On a multi-day (or multi-month) hike, that enthusiasm is almost as important as your next water source...except not..but ALMOST.
