Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition of the most popular of Manual records - the 2005 shoegaze classic Azure Vista. Jonas Munk aka Manual remastered the original six tracks himself and has added seven live recordings performed on Manual's 2007 US tour. Longtime friend and partner in music Jakob Skott redesigned the artwork for this edition, which comes in a six panel Eco-wallet. Azure Vista was Darla Records' 2005 best seller. Azure Vista's foundation is built on Jonas' trademark songwriting that, while being highly complex and always moving in surprising and unpredictable ways, still maintains a refreshing pop feel and an undeniable flow that makes it seem like the most natural thing in the world. But whereas Jonas' music has always been epic this album is epic in a way that almost completely redefines the word. Jonas' songwriting has been taken to the extreme - but so has every other aspect of his music. The sound on Azure Vista is BIG. Not just big like Cocteau Twins or Slowdive, but occasionally BIG like Van Halen, in scale, not sound, or Simple Minds, very much in both scale and sound. Numerous layers of dreamy guitars blaze back and forth in the mix like shimmering waves rolling in on Californian shores, and countless other sounds, both deriving from electronic and organic sources, saturates the enormous sonic picture: bells, female vocals, old school drum machine sounds, field recordings and majestic synths all play a part in the sonic palette Jonas used in constructing these six sonic tales of summer ambrosia.

I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters.
That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception.
SPOILER:
The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured.
I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

A good read

A good read, just fluffy cuteness, no antagonism. I like all the characters. It could have used another round of editing however, glanfds being one error that cracked me up, and my personal pet peeve was that the author kept using the word fill instead of feel, which I promise you are not interchangeable haha, but it's definitely better than the majority of books I read on here mistake-wise.
