Notes

"MR. ZOMBIE ORCHESTRA"

A constantly moving, magmatic drum kit, a bass that's always fully at the center of the action, a fluid and elusive guitar and piano that's simultaneously capable of uniting distant worlds... this is the first impact when listening to "Mr Zombie Orchestra" live, a group that shows even the most distracted listener that they possess many more references than they themselves declare in their manifesto, which cites Jelly Roll Morton and Secondo Casadei on the same level (but to which one can easily add Anibal Troilo, Georges Bizet, Danny Elfman, Ennio Morricone, Django Reinhardt, and the list certainly doesn't end there).
The impression is of expert research, indulging in an "omnivorous" taste that nevertheless magically manages to convey a sense of completeness and style. "Mr. Zombie" draws the audience into a fairytale, recreating the atmosphere of an early 20th-century orchestra that blends waltzes, jazz, mazurkas, and tangos with no concern for anything other than the audience's enjoyment and their own personal musical enjoyment. Except that the orchestra in question, rather than emerging from a holographic past, seems decidedly from the third millennium or even beyond, more akin in many ways to the bee "cantina band" from Star Wars than to certain swing remakes of recent recordings. The result is something very different from the material used, a result that both disconcerts and fascinates with the constant prestidigitation performed by these young sorcerer's apprentices.
The undeniable skill of the four, highly at ease in all the musical styles they mix in their magical melting pot, makes the project a highly interesting unicum in the Italian music scene, so stingy with musical intelligence these days.

An excellent addition to the library of books about the life of Churchill.
Format: Hardcover
Excellent story of Churchill's years in the wilderness, warning of the growing threat of Nazi Germany from 1932 to the early of the war. Thoroughly researched and well written, given the complexities of what was going on contemporaneously.

Just like the PBS series....
Format: Hardcover
This book is a step, or two, deeper into the 'wilderness years' than the PBS series by the same name. But frankly, the series, available on YouTube, is a better buy (it's free) for the money and quite entertaining due to its great casting with folks like Robert Hardy, Sian Phillips, and Eric Porter. But, if you're a reader, this book is worth the effort and cost.

Sooooo cute!!!
Format: Hardcover
I really enjoyed this story!! It shows that children are capable of great ideas and should be listened to! Also, that prejudice comes from all angles and that people will go to any lengths to prove their point, even if they do something wrong and malicious to prove it. Great children’s book and a book adults could definitely learn a thing or two from!! It was also much longer than I thought it would be which was a very nice surprise. Looking forward to the sequels!
