Stunning Quochan Kilim Rug in shades of Brown and Beige, this Handmade Vintage Wool Flat-Weave Kurdish Kilim Rug, with Turkoman influences, was ,made in Far South Eastern Turkey by Tribal Weavers up to 60 years ago. In addition to normal Flat-weave structure, this unique rug features Soumak and Cicim weaving techniques. Cicim Kilims are often referred to as "embroidered" weavings as the design motifs are applied "in addition to" the warp and weft (supplementary weft technique) adding a textured effect to the plain background as third colored yarn is used to embroider additional design elements, creating a textured, three dimensional appearance. Soumak Rugs, also known as “warp-wrapped” weavings, are highly appreciated for their finely woven, textured or “embroidered” structure and linear / geometric patterns and designs. Cicim/Soumak rugs are not reversible and, often, one directional. Due to the fine wool and tight weaving, these rugs may benefit from the use of a non-slip underlay or rug pad to prevent movement on smooth surfaces.
