About This Piece
A handsome French sterling silver and vermeil timbale, late 19th century. Unusually, this timbale has the gilt wash both inside and out — most examples from this period have vermeil interiors only. Classic and crisp in design with a flared rim, bearing the monogram "CG." A fine addition to a silver beaker, wine cup, or bar-ware collection.
Maker’s mark currently being researched — possibly Eugène Rocher. The lozenge bears the marks EFR with a serpent or snake. Several beakers sold at auction that I have researched carry the same mark and date to the late 1800s, consistent with the Eugène Rocher mark (which also features a serpent).
Hallmarks & Provenance
French sterling silver, .950, 1st Titre. Marked with the Minerva 1st Titre mark and lozenge mark EFR with serpent (possibly Eugène Rocher; mark under research). Dated to the late 19th century.

Condition
Very good. Very minor surface scratches in accordance with age and use. Vermeil in very good condition with just a touch of tarnish.
