The Montegrappa Bijo-To-Yaju Fountain Pen brings the timeless Beauty and the Beast motif to life through traditional maki-e lacquer artistry on a deep black ground. This refined composition pairs Montegrappa’s precision penmaking with hand-applied lacquer work to create a writing instrument that reads as both tool and talisman. An 18k gold medium nib completes the piece with a supple, confident line worthy of the artwork it carries.

Craftsmanship & Design

Maki-e is the centuries-old Japanese art of building images in urushi lacquer using precious metal powders and pigments. Layer by layer, the artwork is applied, cured, and polished to achieve depth, sheen, and fine detail that only reveal themselves fully in the hand. On this edition, the Bijo-To-Yaju theme is rendered with careful contrast against a lustrous black finish, allowing highlights, linework, and texture to animate as light moves across the barrel and cap. The result is a harmonious dialogue between narrative imagery and the pen’s sleek, modern silhouette.

Every element is considered for longevity: lacquer layers protect the artwork, subtle transitions keep the composition elegant from every angle, and the form factor preserves daily usability without sacrificing aesthetic integrity. It is a collector-focused piece designed to age with grace and to reward close study.

Writing Experience

Montegrappa’s 18k gold nib in medium offers a smooth, controlled flow with just enough spring to keep handwriting lively and legible. The pen sits comfortably in hand, offering reassuring balance that encourages longer sessions without fatigue. Daily notes, signatures, and reflective journaling all benefit from the nib’s easy cadence and reliable start-up. The artwork may capture attention first, but the feel on paper confirms its purpose as a serious writing instrument.

Brand Heritage

Founded in 1912 in Bassano del Grappa, Montegrappa has long explored the intersection of Italian engineering, narrative design, and traditional arts. Special projects often serve as cultural bridges, pairing fine writing performance with decorative techniques that carry history and meaning. The Bijo-To-Yaju fountain pen continues that lineage, presenting a storied theme through maki-e lacquer while upholding the brand’s reputation for fit, finish, and dependable writing character.

A true classic
Size: 7, Color: Maple Suede
One of my favorite shoes ever! Been wearing these since the 90's. They have changed a few things since then but I'd say the overall quality is still great. They fit true to size and are very comfortable right out the box. These are one of the most versitile pairs of shoes you can own. They go with almost any outfit. This time around I purchased the sand and beeswax colorways. If you've never owned a pair I highly recommend these.

Clark's Wallabee's are the best shoes ever made!
I was looking for a new pair of shoes, after one of my Clarks casual shoes (made in india) literally split in half. It only had 8 months of use! I was so angry, so much so that as a loyal Clark's customer I vowed to move on to another brand of shoe. So I began my search, and search, and search... I just couldn't find any pair of shoe that exited me as much as Clark's did. I began to reminisce on my first pair of Clark's that started it all. The Wallabees. The quality in craftsmanship, the nice thick leather, the stitching, and the indestructible weird looking jelly soles. These things could take a hit. I mean I wore them consistently for two years and they just wouldn't budge. I eventually needed something different, so I put them in the closet; only to come out when ever a pair of shoe wore out and I needed a something while I made another purchase. After about 2 years of that I realize I shouldn't be buying more shoes I should be wearing my wallabees. So I wore them for several more years until I finally decided its was time to part... What a mistake. Here I had a pair a shoes that lasted me almost a decade I parted away for no real good reason. It took me many more years of wearing other Clark's and other brands to come to this realization. The Wallabee's are the best shoes ever made! I broke my vow of not buying Clark's after that indian made piece of crap, and decided to buy these. To my surprise the wallabee's are no longer made in England or Ireland, but instead made in China! I was sceptical as to how great the quality may be. I mean I lost faith in Clark's after all. But after careful inspection, these shoe's look, smell, and feel just like the originals. The craftsmanship looks the same as well (a little more modern support). I did some research and turns out China has one of Clark's best shoe factory in the world. I can not judge these shoes by where is was made, but how they fare out with the old ones. So far I'm very very happy! I will wear these and put it to the test of time, and see if they will go for almost a decade as my originals did. At this point they once again take their place as my number one favorite pair of shoes.

I'm highly upset by this product. They sent one without the lid. It looks used and rye middle latch is bent so your not able to close it.

Love them!
Size: 7, Color: Maple Suede
These are a classic! Amazing materials and product. If you have never owned a pair, be aware that the soles will get dirty quickly and visibly noticeable. I would say true to size in what you were in sneakers.
