Matek PDB-HEX: The "I’m Building a Hexa" Power Solution

So, you’ve decided that four motors weren't enough of a cable management nightmare. You’ve graduated to a hexacopter, or perhaps a quad that consumes more power than a small UK village. Welcome to the PDB-HEX, where we stop pretending your 30A AIO can handle the heat. This is for the heavy lifters, the over-spec enthusiasts, and the people who actually read manuals.

Why You Actually Want It

Matek Systems knows you’re going to push this thing until something glows. That’s why they’ve rated this distribution board for a massive 140A of continuous current. That’s enough juice to make your neighbours' Wi-Fi flicker. It handles up to 12S LiPo, because clearly, 6S was just a gateway drug to real power-induced anxiety. It’s reliable, it’s chunky, and it won’t give up the ghost when you decide to punch the throttle at 50% battery.

PDB

  • Input voltage range: 6~60V (2~12S LiPo)
  • PDB/current sense resistor: 140A cont, 264A burst.
  • ESC power pads: 60A cont. 100A burst
  • 6x ESC power /signal/ telemetry pads
  • Current Senor: 264A,  3.3V ADC
  • Current Scale 125(INAV/BF),  BATT_AMP_PERVLT  80 (ArduPilot)

JST-SH-8P Connector and Pads

  • Vbat: Battery voltage
  • G: ground
  • Curr: current signal
  • Tlm: Duplicates Tlm pads for ESC telemetry
  • S1/S2/S3/S4/S5/S6: ESC signal
  • Vx: Regulator output

BEC Vx output (5V default)

  • Vx= 5V by default,   Continuous 5 Amps
  • Bridge 9V jumper,  Vx= 9V,  Continuous 4 Amps,  Max.5A
  • Bridge 12V jumper,  Vx= 12V, Continuous 4 Amps,  Max.5A
  • Output Short-circuit tolerant (1 seconds)
  • Overcurrent protection & self-recovery

Voltage divider

  • 1K:20K resistors
  • Output 1/21 Vbat voltage

Physical

  • Mounting: 30.5 x 30.5mm, 20 x 20mm, Φ3mm
  • Dimensions: 49 x 40 x 6 mm
  • Weight: 12g

In the Box

  • 1 x PDB-HEX 2-12S PDB w/ BEC
  • 1 x Rubycon ZLJ 63V 390uF
  • 1 x JST-SH1.0_8pin cable, 5cm
  • 2 x JST-SH1.0_8pin connectors

Highlights

  • Heavy Duty Copper: Thick 2oz copper traces because physics doesn't care about your feelings.
  • Dual Voltage Rails: Separate 5V and 12V regulators so your flight controller doesn't brown out when your gimbal kicks in.
  • Precision Sensing: Know exactly how fast you’re draining your bank account... I mean, battery.

Notes

Please ensure your soldering iron is actually hot. Tacking a 10AWG wire onto a high-current pad with a 15W iron from the back of your shed is a recipe for a bad Saturday. Also, check your polarities; magic smoke is notoriously difficult to put back inside the components once it escapes.

Good value for price
Size: Freo S
Update - returned due to lackluster battery power. It would vacuum on “regular”, and come back to recharge after less than a hour. It’s too bad, because otherwise it was great. This is a pretty good system for the price, especially if you have primarily hardwoods/tile. It’s not great on carpet, and I really need a vacuum with more suction power. It will not remove enough pet hair from my low pile and washable rugs to make the investment worth it. Battery does not last as long as other models I’ve tried. It returns to recharge many times for my 3000 sq ft. I have a multi level house, with multiple thresh holds (home has many additions). I need a vacuum that can save 6 maps. This only saves 3 - which to be fair is typical in this price range. I don’t even know if there is a vacuum that can save 6? WiFi was easy to connect. Not too noisy when running. Seems well-made. Just needs more suction for my needs. Overall this is a decent system for this price point. I need something more powerful so I’ll probably be upgrading.

Not slim
Size: Freo S
Update AGAIN! I have had it 7 months now and it started making a noise like it was stuck on something but theres nothing at all there. Contacted customer service and they said its the brush and lid, so they send a new one. Great. I get it and install it and it makes the noise still contacted customer service again and they said we can send a new brush and lid, i said i just received a new one and its still making that noise. Now they said we will get back to you soon but its been 5 days and nothing. I have contacted them again and still nothing Update. I’ve had this for several months now and theres a few problems beside it being not thin enough to go under furniture. I dont like to set up ‘task’ because its not always convenient at the same time each day so i usually just open app and push start. The problem is that it doesnt do all the rooms even if i have chosen all the rooms it also doesnt self empty unless i go into the app and self empty it. It does sometimes but not always. Now customer service says that i have to set up task, but why?! We should be in control of the robot not the robot of us. Also, you can not send it to a specific spot it missed. If i move my robot over a spot to revacume, it loses its mind and wants to start remapping. I still like that it vacumes well(besides missing here and there) but i do regret getting it. Also it sucks on edges, so i sweep the edges to it vacumes more. Will not keep them in mind for the futre. Received today. Way easier set up to wifi than the coredy. Way quieter too. Its not slim and wont go under my sofas , that was disappointing. It needs at least a 4inch clearance 5 to be safe. Dont recall seeing that in description but i could be wrong . It also doesnt have a way to manually navigate it , either a control or a way from the app. I will try it out since i like the quietness and the sucking power.

Good quality for the price
Size: Freo S, Size: Freo S
NARWAL Freo S — Truly Hands-Free Cleaning! I’ve been using the NARWAL Freo S Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo and I’m genuinely impressed. The 8000Pa suction is incredibly powerful — it picks up dust, crumbs, and even stubborn pet hair with no problem. The mopping function leaves my hard floors looking fresh and streak-free. What I love most is how hands-free it is. The self-emptying base really works — I don’t have to think about it for weeks, and they claim up to 180 days! The LDS navigation is super accurate, and the obstacle avoidance means it never gets stuck.

Not a mop, vacuum only
Size: Freo S
This is really only a vacuum. It is not a mop, at best it could be considered a “dry mop” but that doesn’t really clean floors. Good price, and it vacuums well enough. Doesn’t seem to get stuck nearly as much as my old Shark. I gave 3 stars because half of what the title says it can do is misleading/not true

Budget Vacuum Surprise
Size: Freo S, Size: Freo S
I wasn’t expecting much from a budget robot vacuum, but it really surprised me! I’ve owned a few high-end vacuums in the past, so I was skeptical about how this one would perform, especially given its price. But honestly, it handles my apartment like a pro. The suction power is great enough for my place. It picks up everything—pet hair, dust on both hardwood floors and the rug. The dock is simple to use, and the best part is I don’t have to worry about it too much. Just clean the mop pads every now and then, and that’s about it. The dustbin is large enough that I don’t have to empty it after every cleaning, which is a big time-saver. For someone like me, living alone with little time to clean, the Freo S is perfect. It gets the job done without the extra features of pricier models. If you want a reliable, budget-friendly vacuum, this is a great choice.
