Our two golden-doodles have destroyed many of the chew toys I foolishly invested in. I used to measure their lifespan and durability in a matter of minutes. Shredding toys seemed their delight and specialty. Squeakers were often attacked with spectacular ferocity as if they were tests of canine ingenuity to find ways to get to, swallow, or otherwise destroy the squeaker mechanism. These balls have broken the household record for longevity. They've taken a licken and continue to squeak and delight our girls. Which delights us! Immediately rolled up under the sofa!

I was looking for toys that were durable, that our GSD puppy would like, and that would specifically NOT roll under the sofa every time he swatted at it because I’m tired of moving the couch every 5 minutes to retrieve another toy. This toy went under the couch within 5 minutes of opening the package. He doesn’t seem to enjoy playing with it as much as he does a regular tennis ball, it’s easier to throw far outside IMO (my husband doesn’t notice a difference). It’s not hard or soft, it’s kind of a combination of both with the knobby bumps on the outside. I speculate the bumps are part of what he doesn’t enjoy playing with. He is able to pick it up and carry it easy enough and when he does it squishes just enough for him to carry it, he’s 5 months old by the way. But the bottom line is this will likely become yet another “outside toy” in the sea of outside toys because if not I’ll be constantly fishing it out from under the couch!

I am actually impressed with these balls. Our dog is a very heavy chewer and literally can tear every toy up within a few minutes. I usually buy tennis looking balls from PetSmart that are a little bigger than an actual tennis ball that has a squeaker and they don't last long. After he runs around squeaking them for about 20 minutes he goes in destruction mode. He loves the squeaker but loves to tear the felt off then the ball is destroyed next. They are at least cheap but not really if he goes them so fast. I have to ration them out. I decided to give these balls a try after reading another review that they are good for heavy chewers. He has been playing with these balls for weeks and they are still going strong. None of them have been destroyed. Granted he would prefer the felt ones but my wallet prefers balls that last.
