Dating back 200 million years to the age of dinosaurs, Beluga sturgeon is among the oldest fish on the planet. Their life cycle mirrors that of salmon, as they hatch in freshwater, spend most of their adult lives in saltwater, and return to freshwater rivers to spawn. Female Belugas have an impressive lifespan, often living beyond 110 years, though they only begin producing eggs at around 20 years old, once fully mature.
