Robiniapalen met een diameter van 10–12 cm worden vaak gebruikt voor weideafsluitingen, tuinomheiningen of constructies die jarenlang moeten meegaan.

Ze zijn gemaakt uit Europees robiniahout (pseudo-acacia), een hardhout dat behoort tot duurzaamheidsklasse 1, vergelijkbaar met tropisch hardhout. Dankzij hun natuurlijke weerstand tegen vocht, schimmels en insecten hebben deze palen geen behandeling nodig.

Robinia is het hardste Europese hout en blijft vormvast, ook bij langdurig contact met de grond. De gemiddelde levensduur bedraagt 25 tot 30 jaar.
