I’ve designed this 6 week course to cover all of the aspects of darning that I use day to day for repairing well worn and well loved clothes. 

From knowing which types of darns to apply to different kinds of fabrics and having the confidence to experiment with colour, this course will expand your darning knowledge and leave you feeling not only ready but excited to tackle your mending pile. 

Spaces are limited to 8 for a close knit group that allows everyone to get involved and share their progress. There will also be a group chat for support throughout the course.

Course notes:

This course is suitable for absolute beginners or for those who have already dipped their toes into the world of darning. Each week we’ll cover a new technique and we’ll look at tips and tricks to help you along the way. You’ll come away from this course with the following:

🪡 The language of mending! You’ll know your warp from your weft and the difference between scaffolding stitches and scaffolding pins

🤩 The confidence to know which techniques to apply to different kinds of damage

🎨 The curiosity to try different colour combinations and ways to approach the visible element of mending that reflects you and your clothing

🧵 Troubleshooting tips and tricks for different fabrics and yarns 

👕 Knowledge about how to use different mending techniques across different garments

♻️ A feeling of empowerment in knowing that by mending you are actively helping to tackle the textile waste crisis and reduce the amount of clothing sent to landfill

Live workshops will be held on Tuesdays at 6pm (UK BST) on Google Meet. There will be a group chat for support and to share projects as the course progresses.

"Defiant Joy" is a fitting title for those who don't want to give up yet; who don't want to give in to resignation. And that's the invitation Stasi gently offers--there is another option beside resignation, cynicism, depression and disillusionment. Joy! Who would have thought? Stasi writes like she talks. Reading her work is like sitting down with a good friend for an honest and frank conversation about what really matters. She's the kind of friend we all long to have--one who tells us what we need to hear instead of what we want to hear; one who tells us the truth, even when we've lost hope of ever finding it. You won't find any relativism or warm-fuzzy self-talk. This is not a self-help book. Stasi has suffered too much to offer simplistic answers to some of the most difficult questions. You can experience joy!

Stasi Eldredge writes honestly and poignantly from places of pain and sorrow in her own life - but doesn't leave us there. She leads us into hope, into beauty and into a new depth of life in God.
