What's this? We're back with a quick addition to the Yarnovision family for 2023!
This year, the talk of the town was which of the Nordic countries would win the competition. Sweden sent returning champion Loreen (Euphoria 2012) while Finland sent the amazing newcomer Käärijä with his song Cha Cha Cha. And this song is an earworm! It starts in a darker, more growly style, but in the second half changes into something that has reminded me of mid-2000s J-pop. It's also sung entirely in Finnish!
Käärijä also took social media by storm in the period between Finland's national final and the actual competition in Liverpool. His costume, which he wore ubiquitously in all interviews and press meetings, is a puffy, lime green bolero with black spikes around the collar, and black pants with spikes coming off of the sides. This, of course, is the inspriation for the main skein of our sock set. The mini skein is based on the outfits of his backup dancers - an eye-blinding fuschia!
Dubbed one of this year's craziest performances, I highly recommend you give it a watch!
