作者简介：
查尔斯·狄更斯（Charles Dickens，1812—1870），英国19世纪著名作家，批判现实主义文学大师。生于英国朴次茅斯一个贫苦家庭，十一岁起就开始承担繁重的家务，饱尝人生艰辛。他擅长描写英国社会底层“小人物”的生活遭遇，主要作品有《双城记》《大卫·科波菲尔》 《远大前程》《雾都孤儿》《匹克威克外传》等。
译者宋兆霖（1928—2011），浙江金华人，著名翻译家。代表译作有《双城记》《简·爱》《大卫·科波菲尔》《呼啸山庄》《赫索格》等。曾任浙江大学教授，浙江省作协外国文学委员会主任，省翻译协会、省外国文学与比较文学学会名誉会长。
